Presentation: The Institute of Cement and Concrete Chile - ICH, as a member of HDMGlobal, organization responsible for the HDM-4 (Highway Development and Management) worldwide, is proud to offer a theoretical and practical course of the current version. The course was designed for users requiring application for better utilization accompanied by practical training to complement a theoretical knowledge of basic concepts necessary for the use of such tools.

Addressed to:  Professional issues related to planning, management and maintenance of pavements, public and private sector.

Methodology:  The course will be conducted through lectures combined with practical workshops where course attendees will have the opportunity to learn to dish the tool and apply the skills studied in class.

Levels and Content:  The course is structured so that there are two levels, the first (Basic Level) aimed at users who just introduced to the concepts of pavement management and do not have any prior knowledge or the application. El Segundo (Advanced Level) has been thinking of those users or that it already had contact with the tool or have made other course of HDM-4 previously.

Notes:

• To access the advanced course, students must submit a test that allows the ICH verify that the enrollee has the minimum knowledge necessary for him to take the course at this level and be on equal footing with the other participants.
• The test will apply a couple of weeks prior to initiation of the course and will notify those who submitted were classified as level three days later.
• It includes coffee breaks in the middle of the sessions that take place in the ICH.
• A copy of the printed material of the course presentations per attendee.

This course is aimed:

- at specialist teams who are in charge of implementing the HDM-4 model for road studies
- Road engineers who have an experience of road maintenance and basic economics.
- Economics or planners who have a good knowledge on road characteristics and maintenance.

Participants must be completely familiar with computer use and Window.

At the end of the course, the trainees will know the theoretical basis of the HDM-4 model and will be able to use it :

- to define an optimal strategy for investment and maintenance,
- to compare various solutions for a road project,
- to define a roadwork programme.

Training will be based on the actual use of the latest version of the software (HDM-4 Version 2.0).
